Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to finish a painting?

Typically, a painting takes anywhere from 3 days to a couple of weeks to complete depending on size and complexity.

What kind of photo is best for the portrait?

To really capture your pet, the best photos for me to work off of are high quality and evenly lit. If possible, sending multiple photos helps me capture your pet's unique personality! Below are some examples of ideal reference photos.

What kinds of animals can you paint?

I paint all kinds of animals! From a teeny box turtle all the way to an African Kudu, I love painting all kinds of animal friends.

Where are you based?

I am a Colorado-based artist living near the Denver area and I can ship anywhere for an additional fee. If you're a Denver resident you'll get to meet me! I prefer to hand-deliver my paintings if you're close by.

How do you create your fully custom portraits?

For a highly complex paintings, I create digital mockups of the  portrait with photoshop. The mockup is a lower resolution composite of several images meant to serve as a point of reference when painting. Here, I often work with clients to nail down colors, mood, and an overall desired look.

This option offers a huge amount of freedom and creativity in the final product. We can work to composite an entire scene; complete with unique backgrounds, props, and more. These are some of my absolute favorite paintings to work on because they present a completely unique opportunity to convey the animal's unique personality.
