For highly complex paintings, I create digital mockups of the portrait with photoshop. The mockup is a lower resolution composite of several images meant to serve as a point of reference when painting. Here, I often work with clients to nail down colors, mood, and an overall desired look.

 

This option offers a huge amount of freedom and creativity in the final product. I'll work to composite an entire scene; complete with unique backgrounds, props, and more. These are some of my absolute favorite paintings to work on because they present a completely unique opportunity to convey the animal's unique personality.
